Consultant in Emergency Medicine
Stephen is an experienced A&E Consultant with fellowships of both Royal Colleges of Surgeons and of Emergency Medicine. Stephen served several tours of duty in conflicts during his army medical service. In addition to his NHS and medico-legal work, Stephen now delivers academic teaching at the Faculty of Medical Science at Anglia Ruskin University.
Consultant Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon
Michael is a leading specialist in spinal and lower limb surgery with an international reputation. He co-authored the definitive and award winning text on “Medico-legal Reporting in Orthopaedic Trauma”. In addition to his medico-legal work across the full range of orthopaedic injuries, Michael has a busy private and NHS orthopaedic practice as well as a continuing research interest in his areas of specialism.
Tim was a Consultant at the Royal London Hospital leading the Liaison Psychiatry Service and the Crisis Intervention Service for over 20 years before moving full time into independent practice. Tim has extensive experience of the full array of psychiatric issues in medico-legal cases. He has particular expertise with the consequences of physical and emotional trauma; including PTSD, phobic anxiety, depression, head injury and chronic pain.
Nin is a Consultant Neurologist with considerable experience in medico-legal reporting for personal injury and medical negligence. Particular expertise includes memory problems and tremor and dystonia related to brain injury, headache syndromes including Post-Concussive Syndrome, nerve injury and Whiplash Associated Disorder. Nin has an active research interest and is Associate Honorary Professor in Clinical Neurology at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Consultant ENT Surgeon
Ian has been a Consultant ENT surgeon in the NHS for approaching 20 years. He is a specialist in ear disorders, hearing restoration and skull-based surgery. In addition to his work as Director of the Newcastle BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) Centre, Ian is President of their National Association. His medico-legal work includes the whole range of ENT issues but particularly hearing loss and balance problems.
Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon & Medical Adviser to MAPS Medical Reporting
Bina has a wealth of experience in ophthalmology having qualified at King’s College London. She trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital and went on to complete Fellowship posts at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. She has worked in the NHS for over 20 years, 10 of these as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in Paediatrics and Strabismus. Bina is passionate about teaching and actively involved with the trainee programme in Ophthalmology for the Oxford Deanery. She is now a Deputy Block Lead for the Buckingham Medical School giving lectures, examining and teaching medical students. As a Consultant, Bina has been involved in various roles such as College Tutor, Clinical Lead and Clinical Director which have given her a solid background in striving to achieve excellence and safety in healthcare. Bina is also key in assuring the quality of the panel experts used by MAPS.
