MAPS Medical Reporting’s professional expertise and quality service has been recognised with a new Corporate Partnership with the Expert Witness Institute (EWI).

The Corporate Partnership scheme is reserved for expert witness organisations that can demonstrate that they ensure their panel experts have and maintain the suitable qualifications and skills necessary to deliver expert witness evidence of the highest quality.

David Stothard, managing director, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the EWI, an organisation for whom we have great respect.

“We pride ourselves on consistently delivering high quality medico-legal expert evidence from our extensive panel of established expert witnesses. Our vast in-house legal expertise is unique in the medical reporting sector. Our team has an in-depth understanding of the role medico-legal reports play in personal injury and clinical negligence claims and we can therefore ensure that the expert witnesses on our panel will enable customers to obtain the expert evidence needed for their clients’ legal claims.”

MAPS Medical Reporting encourages the continuing professional development (CPD) of its panel of independent experts. The Corporate Partnership will enhance the existing training and development practices in place.

David continued: “Both the judiciary and medical royal colleges have highlighted the value of focussed training and CPD for expert witnesses. The EWI has a great track record in delivering this and, beyond that, they provide a forum for networking, advice and a voice for the expert witness community.

“Their approach complements the support we offer to the expert witnesses on our panel, who strive for excellence in their work.”

Simon Berney-Edwards, chief executive officer of EWI, said: “We are pleased to confirm MAPS Medical Reporting’s status as one of our Corporate Partners. The Membership Committee were particularly impressed the organisations approach to quality assessment and ongoing development of their experts’ practice. We are delighted to have them on board as one of our Corporate Partners.”

Peter Mulhern is a trustee owner of MAPS, sits on MAPS’ Quality Panel, and plays a key part in the monitoring and review of the work of the medico-legal expert panel.

Peter said “This partnership recognises the high standard of service MAPS provide its customers. We are dedicated to helping our customers deliver the best possible outcome for their injured clients, where possible ensuring we can help optimise recovery and treatment options too. By working with our panel of experienced expert witnesses we ensure that we deliver expert evidence of the highest quality required by the courts and Civil Procedure Rules.”
